On Assignment

Minimize

In the fall of 2005 I accepted an assignment in New Orleans to photograph and document Katrina clean-up efforts. The experience was very moving, and the devastation was difficult to view firsthand. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to fully describe or explain the images that I shot there.

While not the same as going to war I now understand better how soliders feel upon their return.  It's not just about the devastation and destruction, it's about people, their lives, being there in the South, and how things go forward. There are some interesting stories that have never been told.

I’ve known John Foust for over 20 years – and throughout each of them, I’ve come to admire him more and more. When we first met, I was editing a small niche publication, and he was the best professional photographer in our industry. His talent and dedication to the craft, his subjects and my deadlines was unmatched. He never turned down an assignment, and he approached each shoot with a commitment to excellence that translated into beautiful and lasting images. -- Linda Mojer
